ETTEDGUI Joseph (Designer / Retailer)

This knitted sweater is a conceptual notion of menswear. The Joseph Ettedgui style was a moveable one, but the basic tenets of an urban designer lifestyle have remained since he opened his first boutique, selling Kenzo, Emmanuelle Khanh and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Antipathetic to the chintz world of Laura Ashley, Ettedgui admired the young vision of the designers he stocked. This interest developed into a modernistic theme for his boutiques, which used steel and concrete colours as the background to contemporary collections. He also nurtured the careers of Margaret Howell, Katherine Hammett and John Galliano. In 1983, Joseph introduced his own label, Joseph Tricot, with a sloppy Joe sweater that has sold in various guises since. In 1984, the concept expanded to include tailoring. Men and women of the same mindset used Joseph's basic wardrobe as the building blocks of their style.

Also look up for De Castelbajac, Galliano, Hammett, Howell, Kenzo, Khanh
